Venues: Real Wedding @ Castle Hill Inn

We are SO excited about our wedding this weekend in Newport at Castle Hill Inn The venue is so gorgeous and literally one of our fave New England spots. This Relais & Chateaux is situated directly on the peninsula and the view is incredible for a wedding, or just a weekend escape. Each room is adorably decorated and the cookies are the best. Yum. Definitely check out this amazing site. Photos to come of the wedding. Goodness.

Your perfect wedding = Montecito Farmhouse

Want a kick-ass venue for your wedding in one of the most beautiful settings in California?  Umm, yeah.  If you are looking for something that hasn’t been done a thousand times before, than consider this location in Santa Barbara: Montecito Farmhouse.  Montecito is an amazing place–one of our fave*places*ever.  There is something so mellow and breath-taking about Montecito.  We love heading up the 101 and driving along the coast to reach this quaint town nestled between the Pacific and the foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains.  Anyway, here’s some info about this location in their own words (and of course photos!)…

Immaculate white gates swing open, welcoming you in to be swept away by the intoxicating allure of this romantic garden estate.  In the glow of the Santa Barbara sun, the breathtaking beauty of this picture perfect garden takes hold and you begin to feel as if you could celebrate not just your wedding day, but an entire lifetime in this magical setting.

Nestled at the end of a quiet lane in one of the most exclusive enclaves in America, the gardens of the Montecito Farmhouse look like pages torn from a storybook.  The mild Santa Barbara climate makes this garden a year round venue for a fairy tale wedding in any season.  Giant trees canopy the entrance to the romantic estate and give way to a tapestry of sweeping lawns, intimate theme gardens, and a babbling brook that runs year round.

Near the entrance sits the charming Dower Cottage, which is the perfect place for the bride and her maids to dress for the ceremony.  Recently used for a magazine photo shoot, its elegant country interiors are ideal for pre-ceremony photos.  Lofty ceilings, antique chandeliers, a natural stone fireplace, a country kitchen and stunning bath could tempt the newly weds to spend the first night of their honeymoon here.

Slowly and seductively, the gardens of the Montecito Farmhouse are revealed in one delicious layer after another.  The first theme garden that unfolds near the entrance is the Tuscan Garden.  A perfect place to receive guests, this garden reads like a huge outdoor living and dining room. Glistening chandeliers hang from a stately oak that canopies the outdoor room, which is beautifully appointed with elegant yet casual furnishings.  Adding to its charm, most of the year this garden is ringed with a wall of enormous pots brimming with hydrangeas.

Leaving the Tuscan Garden via stone lined paths that cross lush lawns punctuated with sparkling fountains and whimsical swings, the most expansive vista of the estate comes into view.  Pristine mountains against a cerulean sky create a breathtaking silhouette.  There is an abundance of space here to erect pavilions, tents, dance floors or whatever else you envision for your special day.  The magnificent gardens of the Montecito Farmhouse can easily accommodate a ceremony or reception of 300 or more guests, yet it is intimate enough to wrap a warm welcome around a much smaller gathering.   There is ample room for catering logistics, and the property has been designed to supply power for additional lighting and equipment.

Destination: Smog Shoppe

As a follow-up to Crissie’s fab photos yesterday, we decided to feature Smog Shoppe, the latest renovation project from the owners of the unique and fabulous Marvimon. Smog Shoppe is a phenomenal new event space, which was a beautification project of a 25 year-old automotive center located in Culver City.  Throughout the renovation, Smog Shoppe used over 90% green or salvaged building materials, recycled scrap metal and lumber to create their furniture, and is possibly one of the greenest event spaces in California.  The space can accommodate up to 200 guests for garden ceremonies and sit down dinners, and up to 300 for cocktail parties.  We love the industrial aesthetic, and it is truly unique to downtown L.A.  Hello eye candy…

Christine Farah: Phenomenal Marvimon Wedding

We love everything about our friend Crissie Farah : she’s fun, sweet, and her energy is infectious, but… the reason we are posting about her today is because she is an amazingly talented photographer. We spent some time with Crissie at Marmont and she took photos of our L.A. team–it was one of the best photo shoots ever.

Today we have a ridiculously gorgeous wedding that we couldn’t get enough of when we saw it.  The wedding took place at Marvimon in L.A., an amazing space in downtown L.A.  It is such a unique space, with which we immediately fell in love when we scouted the location for a photo shoot last year. It is perfect for an intimate wedding, with outdoor space fabulous for photos.  Holly Flora provided the flowers–so beautiful!

NOLA Venue: Le Phare

Le Phare reminds me of a lounge that might be found in Paris, but tucked away in New Orleans. Love the wide plank floors, exposed brick and the industrial meets antique aesthetic.

Relais & Chateaux

I’ve had two posts this week and they were both about large estates that are perfect for weddings. There are many great boutique hotels and resorts all over the country, and Relais & Chateaux is one of my favorite places to find new venues and places to stay. Every resort chosen is so unique.  The location provides so much of an events character.  We were recently discussing that we actually based the size of our own wedding on which venue we chose.  I always accompany my posts with images, but there are so many fantastic locations I can’t even begin to chose one.  Just head to their site to find your destination. The images below are from Castle Hill in Newport, one of our favorites.  And, they have the MOST amazing cookies!

Blantyre

So, I went to a wedding at Oheka Castle over the weekend, and I was thinking that it reminded me a bit of the Blantyre. Don’t get me wrong, some of my readers must be thinking they are distinctly different. The Blantyre is a bit more country and distinctly modeled after a Scottish Mansion, whereas, Oheka a slightly more formal French-style chateau. The Blantyre is where we had our rehearsal dinner, largely due to its proximity to our wedding venue. It is a fatastic venue located in the Berkshires. Below are some images of the estate.

Oheka Castle

Over this weekend we had the pleasure of attending a friends wedding at Oheka Castle in Huntington, NY. The venue is a French-style chateau with huge, gorgeous grounds. Since the event was just two days ago, we don’t have any photos just yet, but below are a few pictures of Oheka Castle, go to their site for more.
