I can go to Anna’s site and get lost in her sexy, too cool for school, badass, retro with a twist of vintage images. Anna is a fashion, portrait, and lifestyle photographer in whose dreamy world I could surely get lost. She recently emailed to update me on some of her new work. Alison Pill for The Lab Magazine, new fashion stories for SOMA and Clone Magazine, and portraits for the YSL Parisienne launch. Ummm. Yes, please. Here’s some candy. Delish.

Canvas. Fur. Tweed. Leather. Oh, my! Are you kidding me J. Crew?! I know, I know, most consider J Crew a staple of their wardrobe. A recent convert, j’adore their fashion forward Fall preview. The line is a little Debbie Harry meets 1940s military influence. And dare I say a dash of Balenciaga? Cannot wait for the pre-orders. Their inspiration: Eddie Beale’s closet. I agree. Check it. Big love.
You might be akin to my love of Derian, but I recently received a pretty little gift from Kaas Glassworks. Located in the West Village, the decoupage plates are simply lovely. The artist at Kaas trained with Derain, so the pieces are similarly lovely and eclectic. They would make perfect gifts for your bridesmaids. And, they can also create a personalized plate from your wedding invitation, or any token momento. Love that idea of a sweet piece from your wedding. Definitely check out this adorable shop to get your decoupage on.
So, I was flipping thru the channels the other day and came across a terrible movie, with the most amazing design. The dilemma: continue to watch JLo and her terrible acting skills at the expense of seeing the interior and exterior shots of this gorgeous home? Yes, I made the sacrifice. After some research, I found out that this home was actually California craftsman architectural royalty. It was love at first sight. The Ross Hose, located in Pasadena, CA., is home to many of the classic California craftsman homes. The interior is actually a movie set and well done to the designers. The bathroom: I die for the tile! The vintage subway poster: although now a little tired, circa 2005 is arguably hip. I digress to share some lovely images. Still in love? Here’s some interesting background about the Ross House.
As you may have noticed, today’s Daily Inspiration is VERY vintage Vegas. Adore. Check these images from the incredible Giuliano Bekor. This shoot was inspired by all things representative of Vegas-past. Elaborate costumes. Gorgeous dancers. Shot in black and white. Perfection.
Whilst shopping in the picturesque town of Chester, CT this weekend, I stumbled upon these two adorable ideas. Pick #1: For displaying your cupcakes, Hello Hanna has created these lovelies to display your yummies. The Sweet Stands are created from recycled paper and are too cute. Pick #2: London-based comfort-food goodies hub, Hummingbird Bakery, had created these scrumptious postcards. Each card has a lovely photo of their tasty treats, with recipes on the back of the card. So, now you can re-create this delicious goodness. Brills.
If you liked the Daily Inspiration image today you will adore these photos, as they are of the same home. When I saw the hip modernist residence of Santa Monica photographer Dewey Nicks in the L.A. Times Magazine I was in lust. The clean lines. The 1950s vibe. The surf boards strategically placed. It all works perfectly. The architect labels the project “humanist hippie.” I say relaxed perfection. Regardless of what you’d like to call it, here are some lovely images to spark some California dreamin’.
We were having lunch the other day at RFD and walked by a newly opened gallery called Art & Artifact. They are now carrying the previously unreleased photography of Frank Worth and his Hollywood’s Golden Era stars. From some amazing, never-been-seen images of Marilyn Monroe to Natalie Wood, you could spend hours in this gallery. Definitely worth perusing.
Sor for the lack of posts lately. But, the busy season is upon us, and, well, we are out there planning amazing events. Anywho, being the big fans we are of things produced locally and organically, we naturally (pun intended) love Forage. The menu changes based on what’s in season, available, fresh, and gathered from Farmer’s Markets. Yum. You ask the meaning behind the name? Patrons can barter whatever they have growing in their own gardens to be used in the food. So, drive down Sunset and head to Silverlake for all that this little gem has to offer. And, if you have some, bring garlic, onions, shallots, or avocado. That’s what they are foraging these days.
We are lucky enough to receive treats from talented vendors who want to share their creative businesses with us. Recently, we were sent a cute little ditty from a company owned by two sisters from MD & PA called Gifts for the Good Life. Loves. Little heart-shaped hand warmers. Mini hand-painted delish chocolates. A yummy smelling travel-sized candle. We had to share the love. Definitely check out their blog and site.
