Our fashionable and in-the-know brides are always looking for incredible spaces to host their weddings. Well, recently we stumbled across an amazing location: Spectacle Island. Off the coast of Maine, located in Frenchman’s Bay, this amazing post and beam, hand-carved home is perfect for a private New England wedding. Transportation to and from the Island is by way of your own private captain and boat. The entire house is available for rental and can include a chef. We will have no problem creating an amazing tented wedding on this serene island. Good times.

In traveling the internets and beyond, I found the following tidbits. For your home: Beehive Kitchen products are adorable. Especially these little bird cheese markers. Cute for your next dinner party. For your body: Any lover of the vintage-rocker vibe will crush-on the new “Band Groupies” line from the kick-ass husband & wife duo Guy Baxter. Gorg feminine pieces. One part too cool for school. Two parts punk. For your soul: T Magazine’s Style Map of St. Barth. And, yes, as the article suggests it to be a must, we have personally danced on tables at Le Ti. As the old adage goes, when in Rome… Well, in this case, when in St. Barth…
Sorry for the lack of posts this week–but we are prepping for a wedding in Montauk this weekend! Anyway, in light of our destination, we thought we’d post some images and info about our **fave** hotel & restaurant spot in Montauk–The Surf Lodge. Loves. To us, it’s like Cali in Montauk. The local surfing enthusiasts may disagree, but we’re just sayin’–it’s mellow, and not too Hamptons…
Today we wanted to highlight a fave destination in Palm Springs starting with The Parker. The Parker was designed by the fab Jonathan Adler: who-better for this aesthetic? And they offer the best Hermés and Molton Brown products, which to us are the signatures of a luxury amenity. The Parker is a sister property the Le Parker Meridien in Manhattan and Parker guests have been graced with Le Meridien’s transplant restaurant Norma’s. Insider’s tip: the best breakfast we’ve ever eaten, really. The Parker also is a chic place to hold your wedding–the photo ops are stunning and you’ll see a gorg(eous) Real Wedding at the Parker later my friends. Lastly, we will share another Real Wedding tomorrow that we produced in this this desert oasis. Our plan is to keep you coming back for more of Palm Springs all weekend.
One of our favorite spots for its combination of industrial and authentic beauty, as well as amazing design is The Edison. The Edison is a bar and event space that, during the age of Industry, was once L.A.’s first private power plant. Located in downtown L.A., The Edison not only has wonderful cocktails, but the chill vibe combined with a truly unique space housing architectural and mechanical period artifacts is a throw-back to the era of the speakeasy-meets-legendary nightspot aesthetic for which Hollywood is so well-known. The period music and silent films projected onto the brick walls only adds to the authentic perfection. You are able to rent the space for private events. The main event space can hold up to 200 guests; however, there is an option to buyout the entire space. Definitely check out the site for a virtual tour and amazing photos. The Edison would be a great venue to hold a Rehearsal Dinner and even a wedding; and of course an amazing space for any event or a just night out in L.A.
Side note: On Thursday’s & Friday’s during happy hour, cocktails are the prices they were in 1910. So, expect to pay .35 cents for the “1910 martinis”–yes, .35 cents!
Blackberry Farm is one of our favorite destinations for a quick getaway or a weekend-long Destination wedding. Located in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, the farm sits on 4,200 acres. Originally founded in the 1940s, the property is actually still a working farm, with livestock and produce, both of which are cultivated on the farm and incorporated into the cuisine. The Farm has guest accommodations including Estate Rooms, Cottage Suites, Hill Cottages and houses. Blackberry Farm also has incredible food that has been named by Zagat as “the number one small hotel in America”, as well as holds the status of a Relais & Chateaux. Truly a breathtaking and unique place to stay. We hope you enjoy the images as much as we do!
We recently had the pleasure to spend some time at Winvian the breath-taking Relais & Chateaux located in hills of Litchfield County CT. Winvian is an original farmhouse, which holds the restaurant for the property, as well as 18 cottages, each with their own theme ranging from “Music” to “Treehouse”–our favorite: “The Library.” Winvian also is home to an amazing Spa with a fabulous menu of services.
Later this year, we are planning an event at Winvian and look forward to utlizing the Gordon Brown House, as well as having access to the spectacular grounds. It truly is such an spectacular place to hold a wedding or event.
We recently spent a weekend in Montreal. Dan and I had never been, Montreal s a beautiful city. We stayed at the W, which I have pictures of below, the rooms were quite nice, a lot of bang for your buck compared to New York. If you live in New York, Montreal is a relatively short drive, and a lot of fun, I recommend it as a good substitute to the “staycation”, which is a vacation at home. We went to a number of fantastic restaurants, most notably, at least for us, was a cute little breakfast chain called Eggspectation. I would definitely eat there again next time we go. Anyhow, here are some pics from our hotel, it was a little bit hip, maybe almost too much so, although the club downstair was a fair amount of fun.
