Here are some of the latest lovelies from the 2010 Vera collection. We like them. And, more importantly they won’t illicit hatred and malice from your bridesmaids. Because let’s face the facts: if your bridesmaids look good, you look good. Right? Umm, YES.

How can words possibly epitomize perfection? I know, I say this EVERY time I see any creation from the master: Oscar de la Renta. But, it’s true. The 2010 bridal line is no exception- play on playa. I cannot get enough. Every single dress is perfection. Sorry for you purists, but Vera who? Oscar is where it’s at this season. Also, he has a new line for flower girls. Yes, please.
Love the Spring 2010 Oscar de la Renta collection. Perfection. Some faves. Can’t get enough of the last dress. Obsessed.

What we’re all about
Our brand is inspired by sophisticated, smart, independent women; a thoroughly modern-day bride. We offer our clients an uncompromising level of quality and service - quality of design, quality of making, and a uniquely personal experience, underpinned by the idea that an accessory for your hair should be something of lasting value rather than just a cheap, throwaway item. Jo Thorne is truly a creatively driven, design-led business. Most of what we do is accomplished in our own workshop, but we also employ craftspeople and box makers, precious metal suppliers and technicians, graphic artists and printers. Most of our suppliers are based in the heart of London’s jewelry quarter, where a brief stroll still evokes a fine sense of old London and its oldest trades. If you’ve had a glimpse into the labyrinth of tiny workshops hidden away down marble stairways and behind heavy timber doors, you’ll recognize the smell of burning flux, rouge, and melting wax drifting up from this subterranean world – a fitting incense for an ancient tradition. Jo Thorne products are the sum of many skilled processes, and a vibrant, modern expression of these old crafts. The Jo Thorne brand is bringing smart, contemporary design to bridal hair decorations, updating them for the 21st century. We’d like to give you a behind-the-scenes peek at the creative effort and energy that goes into designing, making and presenting our hair jewelry and accessories.
These dresses are adorable and perfect for a wedding. SarahSeven is an independent bridal designer at Etsy from Portland–loving all-things Portland lately: music, art, and now fashion–such a hub for creativity and authenticity. I am thinking these dresses are such a better take on the often-awful bridesmaid dress. Because who really wants to wear something that: (1) has way too much fabric (2) is the wrong color (3) and looks tired. Not me. Not you. And definitely not your bridesmaids. These scream whimsy, flirty, fun, a little hipster, and most importantly wearable–that is, wearable after the wedding! Of course, these dresses are not for every wedding; yet, perfect for a summer, beach.y, mellow wedding. Or, maybe just a cocktail dress if you are a guest? Just a thought…
PS. For the bride, check out the Marilyn veil (last image) at Austie’s Etsy shop. Loves. It.
We wanted to share some of these vintage bridal dresses, along with two of our favorite de la Renta dresses for this season. To us, they are all very similar to the dress Jackie Kennedy wore on her wedding day–very classic 1950s: a modest bodice, but not without an abundance of fabric everywhere else. We couldn’t resist including the McCall’s ad, as it is one of our favorite dresses ever– it is a pattern for a Givenchy dress. Classic. Simple. Gorgeous.
Here are two faves from de la Renta’s latest bridal line. You can see how there are similar cuts and shapes, with inspiration perhaps drawn from the cut of vintage dresses.
