So, Noah, Kelly & I took the drive up the 101 to the Church Estate in Malibu yesterday for a walk-thru. We have a client getting married there later this year and all we can say is A.MA.ZING! The Church Estate sits on a nine acre vineyard and is home to the most lovely stables, an incredible boat house, clay tennis court, and killer views. The 8000 sq ft house is design perfection. No detail is overlooked. Every room is decorated with its own unique French Provincial palette. The kitchen has the largest farmhouse sink I’ve ever seen and the wine cellar has 2000 year-old stone floors imported from Cypress, yes 2000 year-old stones. Although many a celeb has been married at the Estate, our plans are to make this party like no other the estate has ever hosted. True LHE-style. Brills.

Check it. These lovelies are rad. Portland General Store, on Etsy, takes vintage bottles and replaces them with new, lovely smelling goodness. Although they are “suppose” to be for men, who says you can’t pick up some Wood Body Creme, or have a blast with Whiskey Soap? And, if you are sharing the love you can always order some Tabac After-Shave for your man. Green, hip, and supporting local trade. Loves.
Yes, you read that correctly. The Boom Boom Room is now open to the public and for private parties. What is it you ask? A throwback space, located in the new Standard Hotel in the MPD. Outfitted with 1970s retro-modern decor: gold chairs, black tiles, and lots of cream leather. An aesthetic that any Riunite drinking, Three’s Company watching, tracksuit wearing, lover of all-things 70s inspired will appreciate. Enjoy. We did.
Our friend Julia is a fashion designer, working primarily with what I like to call “knit couture.” She is an incredible talent. Recently, she showed me some of her amazing new bridal designs. Julia is beginning to step into the wedding area, as she is currently designing a friend’s gown, who is to be married on Martha’s Vineyard in September. Also, she has her first special commission for a wedding next July. I think her work is so sexy and fresh. Each dress is completely one of a kind.
The first dress is entirely knit by hand with antiqued ribbon and pearls.
The second gown with the rose train was draped and sewn by hand with fabric that Julia designed on a small circular knitting machine. It is trimmed in pearls.
The third gown, is made of fine silk embroidery thread knit in an openwork pattern. It is incredibly delicate. Its upper bodice and lower skirt are hand-knit with strands of pearls.
Julia describes her love of “the idea of dressing a bride in a gown that is, in essence, her own little ‘treasure’ — something handmade with an heirloom quality that will be passed down to her daughters and to theirs.”
Please email me (lyndsey@lyndseyhamiltonevents.com) if you are interested in learning more about Julia’s wedding gowns.
We have big news today–after six months of work we are launching a new website! The site should be up by the end of today, but we are so excited about it that we wanted to share a preview! Thanks SO much to all of the efforts of Kendra & Amanda of Hi Design. You may also recognize Amanda from her fabulous and always-inspiring blog 100 Layer Cake. The gorgeous monogram was created by the incredibly talented Jenna from Love Jenna. Truly a team of the most talented people we know! Thanks Ladies–it’s been such a pleasure. xo
Here are some breathtaking images from events–from Elton John’s Academy Awards Parties to SAG Awards After-Parties, Nico has shot some truly exclusive events. Enjoy. xo
So, as I am sure you all know, the always-inspiring Abby from Style Me Pretty has redesigned her site. To be expected, it looks amazing! As we always say, we are so honored to be included in such esteemed company in SMPs Little Black Book –Manhattan & Orange County. Abby also gave a shout-out to the company responsible for the re-design and we did some investigating. What did we find? A rad blog from Brains on Fire. Inspiring content. A new must-read. Below is a recent post. It beautifully (and comically) articulates exactly how we feel about OUR small business. Loves. It. Thanks for putting this out there!
It’s the culture, stupid.
This is too good for words. Huge fans of all things at Reform School already, but this just makes them even more rad and addictive.
So, a few weeks back we received an email from Michael Antonia, who is a producer and DJ, that has worked with the likes of The Roots, Black Eyed Peas, and Outkast (yes, this list goes ON) and now works with the amazing photographers from Our Labor of Love (who we of course completely adore), to create a company called The Flash Dance. Their blog is nothing short of amazing, even down to the intro, which is footage of famous musicians on their wedding day: think Elvis & Pricilla, John & Yoko, Mick & Bianca. * loves*it* Michael has now expanded his blog to highlight vendors in L.A. that he feels accurately represent their aesthetic, approach, and clients. We were lucky enough to be asked to sit down with him and chat (well, over the phone) about his work, his blog, and his fresh approach to redefining weddings. We are now daily followers of his blog and think it a great resource for L.A. couples getting married, who don’t want the traditional approach to weddings, but who want fantastic vendors. Check out the props in the profile he posted on us.
More from Michael about his company, in his own words…
2 couples, (Jess & Whit, Michael & Elizabeth) one little man, one little girl, three dogs and a lot of love!
They say if you love someone you have to let them go, and if they love you they’ll come back. Flashdance is an idea that has been brewing for nearly a decade… Way back in the day Whitney and Michael dreamed of having their own company together. Looking for love drove them to the furthest corners of the country, (Seattle, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles) falling in love brought them back together. Nearly 10 years later, with families in tow, they are finally doing exactly what they always wanted to do. (and nobody’s telling them how to do it!). Hooray!
We didn’t get into this business because we thought it would be an easy way to earn a buck, we did it because our weddings were the most amazing days of our lives, and so much fun, that we decided to trade in the grind of corporate events, music festivals, and nightclubs, to make love and happiness the biggest part of our lives. We think we made the right choice!
