This image from Jeff Tisman was taken almost a year ago at a wedding Carrie and I coordinated at Wheatleigh Hotel in Lenox, MA. First and foremost, I don’t feel comfortable bringing up the Wheatleigh without mentioning how gorgeous it is. It’s one of my favorite places ever (obviously, I am impartial– I got married there). We have been lucky enough to plan two weddings there. One of my favorite things about the hotel is their attention to the even smallest detail. My favorite little detail: Molton Brown soap in the rooms. Favorite MB scent: naran ji.

When we decided to expand to California, I had a list of vendors with whom I wanted to work. Elizabeth Messina was on the top of that list. I had been an admirer of her work, and when I reached out to Elizabeth, we made plans to meet. We had a great lunch in Santa Barbara, and she was as amazing as her work! She is so passionate about her craft, and undoubtedly talented. When we told Elizabeth of our plans for a blog, she sent over some of her favorite images for our launch.
Next time you think “wedding”, you may have a new color on your mind: GREEN.
In the face of today’s climate crisis, more and more couples are choosing to adopt eco-friendly ideas when planning their wedding. We, for one, sure don’t want our events contributing to these record setting temperatures that are keeping us from enjoying the cities we love.
Here are some of our favorite ideas:
-invitations printed on recycled paper using eco-solvent ink
-vintage wedding dresses (recycling at it’s best!), You can find these at Once Wed.
-organic wine, possibly an organic caterer.
-locally grown produce
-custom wedding bands crafted from recycled gold
-skip the tissue paper in your invitations
-favors can be small local herbs planted in recycled containers
-request charitable donation instead of gifts - ouch
Here is a link to an article from PLENTY MAGAZINE where Lyndsey contributes some ideas on how to be green.
Christa & Rebecca at The Knot asked us to design a Prairie Chic reception for The Knot’s Fall/Winter Issue. We were so excited by the theme and called Matthew Robbins from Artfool. We came up with some cute ideas and are so pleased with how everything looks! Bubby’s provided the pies, Mira Aster provided the invitations, and Matthew provided the floral arrangements and place settings.Hope you enjoy…

While Carrie & Kristin were working a wedding in New York, Jen & Kelly were also running a wedding in San Diego, and Lyndsey and I spent the weekend putting on a flawless surprise engagement party in Laguna Beach. Guests were flown in from all over the US to watch our client’s surprise proposal to his girlfriend, then enjoy each other’s company and celebrate all weekend! Everything came together perfectly, and we received nothing but rave reviews from everyone involved.
We were able to have this party in a brand new boutique hotel that is not even open yet; they had a “soft” opening just for our event. The name of the property is Seven4One, and with their stellar views and fun location, we think it’s one of the more unique sites in Orange County to host a smaller, intimate event.
Keep checking back: we’ll have pictures posted as soon as they arrive! Just to give you an idea, here’s a picture of the view from the venue.
